Today, as I was driving around running errands I began thinking about how and why people quit tasks or jobs. Quitting takes a lot of work, sometimes the thought of quitting is actually more stressful than the act of completing the task in question. I believe there are legitimate reasons for quitting certain jobs or engagements, but I also think there is always a way to press on and finish what you started. Think about it, many inspirational tales begin with or include the phrase “I almost quit.” It’s interesting to wonder if amazing things happen when you don’t quit, or if the fact that you wanted to quit but did not made the outcome that much greater in you eyes. When I said it’s hard to quit, I mean it really is a difficult task, when you put time and effort into anything, you leave a part of yourself in it. You can never regain the time or effort put into a task, and quitting is just like taking that piece of yourself and killing it in vain. I actually believe many of the problems faced by humankind today exist because someone quit, right when they were on the cusp of finding a magnificent solution. I want to leave you with some encouragement, don’t quit, try to keep going, and ask for help if you need it. You never know how far you can get or how much you can achieve if you stop before you finish, think about the effort you put into your projects or your life, then double it and use that boost to finish what you started. You will be eternally grateful when you get a chance to look back and see how far you’ve come and how much you’ve done.
