The NBA season is over, and the playoffs have been going on for some time now. The final four teams have been set, and based on the standings at the end of the season, the playoffs have been predictable enough with the top four teams being the last ones standing. The Cavaliers, Rockets, Warriors, and Hawks basically “ran the table” all season and expectedly made it to the finals of their respective conferences. While the outcome has been predictable so far, every series has had its excitement, and some unexpected favorites have emerged. The Houston Rockets are a team that looked like there would be eliminated several times, yet they fought back and ended up winning the 7 game series after being down 3 games to 1. The reason the Rockets are still in the playoffs is because they posses big time star power, and those stars played very well when they were needed. The NBA playoffs is a tournament of stars, players like James Harden, Lebron James, and Stephen Curry, have made sure their teams stayed in the game with stellar play, but the Atlanta Hawks do not have that one big name player to rely on in a tough situation. It would be a feat for a team like the Hawks to win the championship since they have to face the daunting task of stopping Lebron James, but I am confident that this is their year, and this “rag tag” group of young players will end up being NBA champions. I have said before that I am not a huge fan of basketball, but as a sports fan I love playoffs and tournaments and I will be watching these games as much as I can, and eagerly rooting for the Hawks to win.
