Traveling is one of the most tiresome and stressful tasks known to man, even when you are not actively moving it just takes a toll on the body. I have been traveling since early morning returning from a trip, so I didn’t have much time to get to writing in between layovers. I will briefly touch on the outcome of the Belmont Stakes and the newest member of the very exclusive triple crown champions club. I was completely wrong about American Pharoah, he not only won the triple crown, but he also had a fantastic start in the race, and he led from wire to wire. There was no doubt that Pharoah was going to win the race as he blazed passed the competition and took home the triple crown with relative ease. The race had little excitement apart from the fact that the 37 year old drought has finally come to an end and a horse has finally jumped the hurdle know as the Belmont Stakes. American Pharoah will now live out the rest of his life with the spoils of being a legendary horse, he will be used for breeding and probably just relax and enjoy a life free from running another race, a fate that is fitting for a king. I have to congratulate the trainers, breeders, and owners of American Pharoah, he has effectively etched all of their names into the deep history of this long standing sport, and given the world a reason to joyfully spell pharaoh incorrectly.
Today is the running of the Belmont Stakes, it is the third race in a series of big horse racing events. This year’s event is special due to the fact that there will be a horse that is running in hopes of winning the triple crown. The triple crown is a feat that is accomplished by a horse who can successfully place first in each of the three races in the series. The winner of the previous two races, American Pharoah, looks to be the 12th horse to take home the triple crown in the long history of the sport. American Pharoah is a spunky horse, with a purposely misspelled name, and an absurd amount of energy, the most notable thing about this horse is how he never seems to get a great jump at the start, but he still ends up in first place. Over the past couple of years, there have been many attempts to win the triple crown, by many fast and well bred horses, but nobody has managed to bring home that title since 1978. I would love to see a triple crown winner in my lifetime, but unfortunately I don’t think American Pharoah will be able to overcome a poor start in this race and find a way to win.
